A unified future: What’s next for our end-user experience

1Password is continually finding ways to protect millions of users and over 165K businesses, delivering a secure, seamless experience across our products. 1Password Extended Access Management builds on that focus by helping teams ensure that every identity is authentic, every application sign-on is secure, and every device is healthy.

We are excited to take another step forward in delivering on that. Following the recent acquisitions of Kolide (now 1Password Device Trust) and Trelica (now Trelica by 1Password), we are integrating our products more deeply to create a unified experience that helps teams work securely and efficiently. The new capabilities we are building over time go beyond what each product offered on its own.

In the coming months, we will integrate capabilities from the Trelica by 1Password extension into the 1Password browser extension — creating a more unified, streamlined experience for 1Password Business customers, and providing visibility, security, and automation across SaaS ecosystems. (These changes won’t impact Individual or Family plan customers, as Business features will remain disabled for consumer accounts.)

Recently, we also launched Extended Device Compliance, a new capability that combines the 1Password’s browser extension and 1Password Device Trust to give visibility into applications employees are using for work and enforce device health checks before allowing access to web apps — including both managed apps behind SSO and those unmanaged “shadow IT and AI” apps that are not.

Why?

Integrating these products advances our 1Password Extended Access Management vision of securing every sign-in to every application from every device. Delivering a unified browser extension is the surest path for us to improve access security and governance for customers, while increasing employee productivity at the same time. After all, balancing competing demands of employee empowerment, operational agility, and thwarting ever-evolving cyberattacks is no easy task.

1Password helps by managing authentication risks, enforcing device compliance, and improving application access governance. Combining product capabilities into a seamless experience lets us empower employees to securely use the tools and devices they need to be most productive, making it simple for them to use the most secure credentials possible for each application.

What this means for individual and family password manager customers

For Individual or Family plan customers, rest assured: these changes won’t affect you. Our products are designed to keep your private information private, even when multiple accounts are set up on your device. While the code to support enhanced Business features may be present in our apps, it will be fully disabled and not functional for consumer accounts.

We’ve built our reputation on trust, transparency, and privacy — and that’s not changing.

What this means for business customers

Unifying our browser extensions is designed to bring key benefits to our Business customers who use multiple 1Password products together:

  • A simplified user experience: By consolidating essential capabilities into a single extension, customers benefit from a single, streamlined experience for managing both credential access, device posture, and SaaS app visibility.

  • Stronger security: Improved visibility into work apps usage helps businesses spot risks and enforce policies more effectively.

  • Enhanced productivity: Teams can quickly access the applications and tools they need and streamline approval workflows for new app requests, reducing friction for end users.

Thanks to these powerful capabilities, 1Password Extended Access Management helps IT and security teams close the Access-Trust Gap by ensuring every identity is authentic, every application sign-on is secure, and every device is healthy. 1Password Extended Access Management simplifies cybersecurity compliance, helps meet cyber insurance requirements, and protects organizations from cyberattacks.

What’s next

We’re combining our browser extension with Trelica by 1Password, but this is only the beginning. Expect more cohesive, thoughtfully designed integrations and enhancements across all 1Password applications in the future.

And, of course, we’re doing it the 1Password way – making sure it doesn’t compromise on our commitment to protecting our customers’ privacy and data. Security and privacy are inseparable, and delivering both has always been central to how we build our products.

As always, we’re listening to your feedback and staying committed to delivering tools that help you — and your business — maximize productivity without compromising security.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to build the future of secure access.
